Best Computer Games of 2025: It’s time to list

Games List. Baby Games List.

I’d been reading through a few of those “best games of the year lists” and thought. Wow, I’ve spent a lot of time fiddling with emulation and neglecting the now. What shiny new games did I play this year?

I’d reached peak saturation (PEAK was good wasn’t it!) and my backlog runs into
last year. This isn’t a job, it’s a hobby. How can anyone keep up unless they’re
paid or subsidised by advertisers.

Anyhow, it’s time for my favourite games of 2025!

When I say 2025, I mean games I enjoyed this year, not the year it was released.
No-one should keep up. No-one should be in a rush to enjoy a pastime. There’s still games from the 2000s I haven’t played.

outer worlds 2
Chat Ships, Get Banged.

5. The Outer Worlds 2: this could be higher, but I haven’t finished it yet. Same with
Avowed, which is also highly enjoyable. Look, this is not the games’ fault, it’s a great game, this
is a me problem. For now the Outer Worlds 2 has consumed me (That was good
wasn’t it!).

Skyrim in space, but with better gameplay and speech-checks. Love smacking people with giant staffs. Hoping it doesn’t fall apart in the last act making this inclusion look foolish!

shogun showdown game
Turn Based Tricksy Murder Fun

4. Shogun Showdown: What do you mean this came out last year? Oh… erm. I played it a
lot at the beginning of 2025. Does that count? The perfect game to play whilst doing
something else, over there.

Turn based, clever and replayable.

Thank Goodness You're Here!

3. Thank Goodness You’re Here!: FUN! FUNNY! NICE!

Go in cold. Give it a try.

Helldivers 2
Ey’ up freedom lad

2. Helldivers 2: was updated today which meant I had to immediately stop writing to dismantle some bots. Land on planets, do objectives, ragdoll everywhere, and murderise everything, including your friends by mistake (wink).

The game has gone through some ups and downs since release and beyond the continual crashes and bugs, it’s been mostly up recently. You can tell the developers hearts are in the right place and they’ve transitioned away from making the wonderful but punishing Helldivers 1 in 3D. It’s a fine line being killed unfairly and laughing because of emergent chaos.

If you want a challenge, chuck it on “Super-Helldive” and weep, or keep to “Extreme”, which feels about right for a swell ol’ time!

As Joey Joe Joe would say “Kill ‘em all”. Our forever co-op game. Nuff said.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Ey’ up missing lads

1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: It’s a slick game, which promotes discussion and
healthy menu appreciation. One of the best turn based RPG’s I’ve seen for a long time.

I don’t think it has a single weak spot. 9/10.

A sequel, variation of a theme, short comedy game, a game from 2024 and a slick
persona style RPG. Hmmm… what else did I play this year?

Games I’m still playing / intend to play/ will hopefully play in 2026

PEAK: A game which I should and would have played a lot more, but Helldivers 2
came-a-calling and disrupted our pleasant climbing co-op adventures.

Keeper: In a really nice way this reminds me of those old quality animation games
like “Dragons Lair” and “Space Ace”, but perfected. Really beautiful and a nice little
journey, but with the gimmicks and chops to pull it off.

Sword of the Sea: I really liked Journey. I really like Sable. It’s really nice. There will
be a time for nice later.

Split Fiction: Man, I hate the writing and the characters (just like It Takes Two with
that pervert book), but the discovery and gameplay never misses. Is this the best co-op game ever? Good question.

Oh yes… you’ve all reminded me, I need to pick up Hades 2 at some point. The funny
thing with early access games is sometimes, when it’s done and dusted and 1.0 waves its
arse at you, you forget to revisit it. Anyway, Hades 1 is still fresh in my mind and I need a little time before playing the same kinda thing again.

Consume Me: Was a fun ride (apart from that unskippable bit). Can’t complain at a
tight personal adventure though and I had to see what the story revealed. Completed in a few days and I suspect this could have invaded a few top 10 lists.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: is some good ol’ fashion beat em up action and I’ve a
soft spot for such mashing. Won’t be anyones game of the year, but it scratches
an itch and looks the part.

Special mention to Mouthwashing that I played this year. That was a banger. A horrible unforgettable banger.

2025 Games I played which faded away clicky-clicky Thanos style.

Blue Prince: It was fine, just fine. Not tiresome or anything.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: enjoyed the intro and it looks good, but ‘em….
LOOK OVER THERE!

Cyberpunk DLC thing: I rinsed this game the first time round before it was fixed (lol swimming); I just couldn’t get back into it.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: I liked shooting frogs. Maybe it’s because I played this game a lot the first time round, but I really didn’t feel the need to go through it again.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins: Really good, really easy to forget about.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Damn, I haven’t even got through Avowed, Nu-
Obivion and all the rest. Wouldn’t mind trying out Atomfall too.

I also tried out God of War Ragnarok (more of the same but less engaging, felt like I
was repeating myself) Horizon Forbidden West (more of the same but less engaging,
felt like I was repeating myself), Spiderman 2 (more of the same but less engaging,
felt like I was repeating myself), Last of Us more of the same but less engaging, felt
like I was repeating myselfSpider-Man2 more of the same but less engaging, felt like

Stray was ok.

THAT’S ENOUGH.
